On my past birthday, June 17, 2015 (I won’t tell you which birthday it is) I decided to take on a yoga inversion challenge. I thought it would be fun and a way to make sure I do, at least a little bit of yoga, #everydamnday Also, being a travel blogger, I thought it would be cool and unique to do headstands around the world.
The challenge is posted all over the social media by yogis from all over, who have also taken the #inversionchallenge pledge. What made me decide I wanted to do this was an article I stumbled upon in Mind Body Green as I was scrolling through Facebook, that shared a yogi’s experience of doing this challenge, and I was inspired!
The challenge: to do a headstand/(handstand) every single day for 365 days!
When I started this challenge, I didn’t really consider, just how much of a commitment this was going to be. Some days I would forget, and other days, I simply wasn’t in the mood (just being honest). I even had to catch up on more than a few days by doubling up, and even having to do 10, two days in a row, because I moved and was too busy to do it. I was so dizzy!!!
I post the inversions every day on my social media: Facebook, twitter, instagram (if you want to see them all?)
I am not even halfway through this challenge and I plan on sticking with this commitment until my next birthday, June 17, 2016. I wanted to share some of the inversions of places I traveled to during this timeframe. I won’t bore you with every single one, since most of them are at my house in Bedford, NH, but I will share a few locations I did an inversion at this year.
I’ve even inspired a few friends to join in the challenge with me….I hope we are still friends after this? 🙂
I’ve decided that even after I finish my #365headstands, I will always do a headstand or an inversion at any place I travel all over the world! It may not be every day of a trip, but I will do one at least once in every land I step foot (hand) on.
Below are some of the shots….more to follow….
